SUMMARY:Security Policy Round Table at PRINZ-CARL-PALAIS: NATO at 75 – Are we ready to defend?
DESCRIPTION:Almost two years after Putin started his brutal war against Ukraine\, there is not much hope that Russian aggression will end anytime soon. The Kremlin seems willing to waste ever more lives\, destroying the livelihoods of civilians and ruining any prospects for a mutually respected order of peace and stability in Europe. NATO\, having maintained peace and security for its members for 75 years\, is challenged in ways that contain elements of the Cold War past as well as elements of the unknown\, driven by a strategic landscape that is far more complex and disrupted by technological innovation. At its landmark 2023 summit in Vilnius\, NATO’s leaders have adopted a far-reaching consensus to step up joint efforts to strengthen the defensive capabilities of the alliance and its members.  \n\n\n\n\nSo where are we\, with NATO at 75 and after the Vilnius summit? What do the Vilnius agreements mean for the deterrence of Russia? \n\n\n\nHow do experts assess the protection of NATO’s most vulnerable members along the eastern flank? \n\n\n\nWhat is the impact of the northern enlargement of NATO? \n\n\n\nHow do tactical and technical innovations change the requirements for our Armed forces? \n\n\n\nHow are societies in large coping with the “new normal” and are they supportive of what needs to be invested to deter even more aggression? In short: Are we\, is NATO ready to defend?

SUMMARY:Forum Mainz: Special Training Command (ST‑C) in Support of Ukraine
DESCRIPTION:Sehr verehrte Damen\, sehr geehrte Herren!Das Team Forum Mainz wünscht Ihnen allen ein erfolgreiches Jahr 2024. Wie schon in der Vergangenheit werden wir uns um interessante Vorträge bemühen und freuen uns über Ihr Interesse.Es ist mir gelungen\, Generalleutnant Andreas Marlow\, Stellvertreter des Inspekteurs des Heeres und seit 2022 zugleich Commander Special Training Command (ST‑C) der European Military Assistance Mission in Support of Ukraine (EUMAN) für einen Vortrag über seine Erfahrungen bei der Ausbildung ukrainischer Soldaten zu gewinnen. 2022 wurde auf Beschluss der Europäischen Union eine Ausbildungsmission für die Ukraine auf den Weg gebracht. Bisherige Vereinbarungen und Ausbildungsunterstützungen aus den Händen der EU-Mitgliedstaaten wurden in ihr zusammengefasst. Geführt wird die European Military Assistance Mission in Support of Ukraine (EUMAM UA) aus dem EU HQ\, der strategischen Ebene\, in Brüssel. Die Führung auf der operativen Ebene ist zweigeteilt in das von Polen aufgestellte Combined Arms Training Command (CAT‑C) und das von der Bundeswehr geführte und initial im Kommando Heer aufgewachsene MN-ST‑C unter der Leitung von Generalleutnant Marlow. Beide ergänzen sich.Unser Referent – er hat im Dezember 2014 als Büroleiter des Generalinspekteurs über die Bundeswehr beim Forum Mainz vorgetragen -\, wird über seinen Aufgabenbereich als Commander ST‑C und seine Auswirkungen auf das Deutsche Heer ebenso referieren\, wie zur Logistik und Instandsetzung des an die Ukraine abgegebenen Materials und wie dieses sich im Ukrainekrieg bewährt.Generalleutnant Marlow\, seit 1982 Soldat\, hat sein Berufsleben zu großen Teilen in der Panzertruppe der Bundeswehr zugebracht. Er absolvierte die Generalstabsausbildung in Deutschland und Kanada und studierte Pädagogik an der Helmut-Schmidt-Universität in Hamburg. Er war in mehreren Einsätzen\, zuletzt 2020 in führender Funktion in Afghanistan\, eingesetzt. In seiner Laufbahn führte er ein Bataillon\, eine Brigade und die Division Schnelle Kräfte sowie das Deutsch-Niederländische Korps als Kommandierender General. Er ist Träger zahlreicher deutscher und ausländischer Auszeichnungen.Melden Sie gerne auch Freunde und Bekannte bis spätestens 08. Februar 2024 zu unserer Veranstaltung namentlich an. SUMMARY:Munich Security Conference
DESCRIPTION:The Munich Security Conference (MSC) 2024 will take place from February 16 to 18\, 2024\, at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich. The MSC 2024 will once again offer an unique opportunity for high-level debates on the world’s most pressing security challenges. Additionally\, the MSC\, founded in the fall of 1963\, will celebrate its 60th anniversary up to and during the next main conference. \n\n\n\nSix decades after its foundation by Ewald von Kleist\, the MSC will once again assemble senior decision-makers and thought-leaders from around the world for discussions on the most pressing international security concerns in February 2024. \n\n\n\n60 Years of Debates on Security Policy\n\n\n\nOver the past 60 years\, the Munich Security Conference has constantly evolved\, has become more diverse\, introduced a variety of new discussion and event formats\, and broadened its thematic horizons to take account of the changing security landscape. Its core mission\, however\, has not changed: To provide a platform for consequential debates and\, as its original motto suggests\, to build peace through dialogue. \n\n\n\nPreparations for the MSC 2024 and our 60th anniversary are well underway. We are envisioning a particularly relevant conference with a focus on strengthening the rules-based international order and engaging an inclusive coalition to tackle revisionist tendencies and actions around the world. Aligning with our 2023 activities and publications\, crucial topics addressed at the MSC 2024 will include Europe’s role in security and defense\, new visions of the global order\, the security implications of climate change\, and much more. \n\n\n\nMunich Rule as Core Principle \n\n\n\nAs has been the case for the past six decades\, the entire event and all its many components was governed by the Munich Rule: Engage and interact with each other: Don’t lecture or ignore one another. Whether on or off stage\, we encourage our guests to engage with and learn from each other and we expect all our speakers to stand ready to answer questions and engage with the audience at eye level.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSide Events\n\n\n\nSubmissions for side events at the MSC 2024 are now closed. We would like to thank everyone who applied. Currently\, we are in the process of evaluating the applications and will provide feedback on a rolling basis. We aim to finalize the side event program for the MSC in December 2023.
